Yesterday my parents decided that our family didn't need cable television. They thought that it wasn't necessary to spend 500 dollars a year for entertainment. I strongly disagree. I confronted them and told them that I NEED cable television so that i can watch my favorite Disney channel shows. I also enjoy television time as a way to dissconect with the world and relax after a hard day of school AND work! However, none of my extremely compelling arguments worked and we are stuck without tv.
As a last resort I offered to pay out of my own pocket to get my beloved disney channel back, which in my opinion is an extremely fair argument, and once again that idea was turned down. My mom suggested that i should read instead of watching tv, claiming that it would improve my IQ, but for me reading is not relaxation, it is an emotional journey and often times more depressing than my own life. I decided that was a terrible argument and agree with myself.
